Read the level labels
Level labels are most useful inside tool makers' academies, where one catalogue runs from first steps to advanced workflows. Magnific marks its film course advanced; Runway marks each course beginner, intermediate or advanced; Don Bosco Film School pitches its course from beginner to intermediate. As of 2026-09-25.
An advanced label on a short course usually means it assumes the tool is already familiar.
Beginner labels in school courses usually mean no filmmaking background is assumed.
Where no level is given, the syllabus is the only guide.
Labels are set by each provider, so one provider's intermediate is not another's; compare the lessons, not the label.
Higgsfield marks its film courses intermediate or advanced, which says they expect the tool to be known already.
Tool makers' beginner courses are the natural first step before any of them.
