Capstone film: the film a course ends with
A capstone film is the short film a learner makes at the end of a course, using what the course taught, often reviewed in the last session. As of 2026-09-25.
UCLA Extension's course culminates in an original short film of 30 to 60 seconds. UW-Stout's students produce a short narrative film with AI tools. Full Sail DC3's learners edit a short film with AI editing tools.
A capstone turns separate lessons into one piece of work, with every step in order.
The length of a capstone film is modest: a minute or less is common, because every shot has to be generated, checked and edited.
A finished capstone is also the start of a portfolio, which several course pages mention.
